Valasen’

I am the house spirit and I disturb people at night by frightening them in their sleep. I look like a small nightmarish creature covered with a thick and dark long fur, with seven-fingered and clawed hands.

As for men, I tickle their noses and scratch their faces with my claws. As for women and maidens, I tousle their hair, pinch their breasts and sometimes even lie heavy on them with my shaggy body. I hum into children’s ears and tickles their heels.

I walk the way people do. In my habits I remind Damavik as well as of those creatures that scare people in their sleep (Mara, Nachnitsa).
